Recently, our team worked with a client to run some stimulated disaster recovery tests, focusing on the recovery of critical operational data from the cloud to a physical DR server.

The objectives:

· Gain a realistic understanding of the process

· The time needed to fully recover and restore all critical data

· The impact on business operations in the interim

The Challenges

Recovering business-critical data from the cloud to physical servers presents various challenges, such as:

· The need for a high-speed, reliable internet connection

·  Potential data transfer time and delays

·  The need to integrate cloud disaster recovery (DR) with existing on-premises systems and infrastructure

· Potential security concerns when transferring sensitive data

All businesses must consider various ‘What if’ scenarios to future-proof their business. But have you ever considered how long it would take to recover all your organisation’s key operational data from the cloud BACKUP back to a physical server?

Data Recovery Tools

While data recovery tools and techniques can retrieve lost data, complete recovery is never guaranteed. That’s why robust disaster recovery processes and plans can support business continuity during and after data recovery and help eliminate the danger of mistakes, fraud, cyber-attacks, or even accidents.

If you are storing all your business-critical data in the cloud, you need some business continuity processes and disaster recovery plans in the event of needing to recover all the data back to a physical DR server.

Does your organisation undertake disaster recovery testing to restore all your business-critical data, if so when did you last undertake a test?
