We are also celebrating National Apprenticeship Week with some further good news. Joe is about to start studying for the CompTIA Level 4 Systems Engineer qualification.
In June 2024, we announced that Joe had successfully completed the two-year Level 3 IT Solutions Technician apprenticeship scheme at East Riding College. After spending the past 18 months putting this learning into practice, Joe is about to start studying for the CompTIA Level 4 Systems Engineer qualification.
This 18-month, higher-level (Level 4) technical program is designed to train professionals in designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting complex IT network infrastructure. It covers advanced networking concepts, security, virtualisation, and cloud services, aligning with industry standards like CompTIA Network+ and Network Engineer Apprenticeship standards.
We recently caught up with Joe to discuss his thoughts on starting to study for this Level 4 qualification, the learning outcomes he hopes to achieve, how this next level will enhance his skills and knowledge, and what the likely differences are between Levels 3 and 4.
Joe comments: “I’m looking forward to seeing what the CompTIA Level 4 Systems Engineer course has to offer. I would like to build on areas of my knowledge, such as networking and servers, and enhance my communication skills when delivering project updates to different people.”
Joe feels that the major differences between Levels 3 and 4 of the training programs are likely to focus on the amount of information he will need to remember and the increased expectations around the volume of work he will be undertaking.
Joe continues: “It’s important that the course syllabus reflects the work I undertake daily. There is little doubt it will help me to build on the knowledge I gained from Level 3.”
Good luck, Joe, from the Frost team.
