We know it’s sad, but everything comes to an end – and that includes Microsoft’s support for the Windows 10 Operating System.

If any of your devices are still running on Windows 10, 14th October 2025 is an important date. Official support for Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 systems will end on this day.

We summarise below is how it will affect your organisation:

  • Features and updates - Devices will no longer be getting updates and features

  • Technical support – Microsoft will no longer assistance with troubleshooting

  • Security updates – Critical patches will no longer be available to help protect your PC's

  • Cyber insurance/essentials - Cyber Essentials certification requires organisations to use software that is licensed and supported

  • Incompatibility - Any new hardware or software may not be compatible with an unsupported operating system

According to Statscounter.com, as of January 2025, Windows 11’s market share is 49.45%, while Windows 10 remains at 49.39%. Progress is being made in the UK, but this slow transition may cause Microsoft some alarm.

If you delay the mitigation, it could result in: ·

  • Increased cyber risks

  • Compliance failures

  • Higher costs

  • Potentially operational downtime

Moving to Windows 11 will help future-proof your IT infrastructure and investments.
