The countdown is on – Sunday 31st January, 2027 📞 🔌
The countdown to digital switchover is on, with phone lines being switched from analogue to digital in roughly 200 days. 📞
The UK’s phone lines are being upgraded to digital, with the deadline to switch from traditional analogue (PSTN/copper) to digital phone lines planned for 31st January, 2027.
We first highlighted this in 2024, but the deadline was pushed back from an original date of the 2025 goal to allow for a smoother transition.
Openreach reports there are still 1.9 million analogue phone lines in the UK.
Are you ready?
This change affects everyone, from residential users to large organisations.
The decades-old copper network is being permanently retired, meaning all landlines and related services (like alarms and payment terminals) will be upgraded to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology.
Frost are helping with the migration
Driffield and East Yorkshire communication specialists Frost Consultants is already assisting clients in migrating before the deadline, ensuring they retain their existing contact numbers.
If your business has a well-established contact telephone number that hasn’t migrated to digital and telephony systems before the deadline, retaining it may prove difficult.
With 31st January looming, contact the Frost Consultants team today at info@frostconsultants.com or 01377 830600 to discuss how this transition will affect you.
